Saudi Megacity Neom recently welcomed a new luxury development, Zardun, in the northwest of Saudi Arabia, along the Gulf of Aqaba. Designed by Dutch architecture practice OMA, the resort spans four square kilometers and offers a peaceful retreat for discerning guests.
Zardun is part of Neom Magna development, one of 12 regions within the project. The resort features four architectural compounds, including an experience center and three hotels with 100 rooms and suites. Each building is designed to relate to a different topographic element, blending seamlessly into the natural environment.
The resort is set in a carefully restored semi-desert landscape, thriving with native fauna and flora. The project includes the creation of verdant oases to support a variety of habitats, assisting in the reintroduction of native animal, tree, and plant species.
According to OMA partner Chris van Duijn, “Zardun is a very ambitious plan to bring back plants and animals that have been living on the Gulf of Aqaba. Zardun is a new beginning.”
