Australia’s shifting urban landscape is set to take center stage at The Architecture Symposium Sydney slated to happen on Friday, November 29. The event, titled An/Other City, will explore the architectural possibilities of decentralized cities, reflecting the country’s move away from traditional metropolitan areas. Curators Andrew Burges and Maryam Gusheh have assembled a lineup of experts to discuss how architecture and infrastructure can support new urban environments.
“The pandemic and increasing cost of living have boosted the appeal of regional lifestyles and decentralized workforces,” said Andrew Burges, Curator. The symposium will feature presentations from Thierry Lacoste of Lacoste Stevenson Architects, Steven Toia of Genton, Rhonda Itaoui of Centre for Western Sydney, Jared Webb of (link unavailable) Office, Ian McDougall of ARM Architecture, Anna Maskiell of Public Realm Lab, Lee Hillam of Dunn Hillam, John Wardle of Wardle, and Dan Etheridge of Living Lab Northern Rivers.
Maryam Gusheh, Curator, added, “The symposium will investigate factors informing architectural projects in satellite cities.” The event aims to explore the architectural possibilities of a less centralized urban life.
The Architecture Symposium is part of Design Speaks, organized by Architecture Media, and supported by Planned Cover, Bondor, Deco, and hotel partner Ovolo.
