With this new development, CMC’s entire range of Marble, Quartz and Terrazzo products will benefit from continuous protection against bacterial growth, delivering added surface hygiene and cleanliness in between cleaning. Marble, Quartz and Terrazzo products incorporated with Microban antimicrobial technology is recommended for installation in hygiene sensitive areas including hospitals, laboratories, clinics, kitchens and toilets. The additive helps prevent the growth of microbes that cause staining and odours.

CMC treated Marble, Quartz and Terrazzo slabs will have Microban antimicrobial technology built into them during the manufacturing process. This ensures that the products benefit from continuous antimicrobial protection for their lifetime. The technology remains active 24/7 and will not wash off, wear away or be negatively impacted by cleaning agents that may be used for regular maintenance.
“The pandemic has made consumers more aware of the need for additional measures to help keep surfaces cleaner between cleaning. The Microban antimicrobial technology used in KalingaStone Marble, Quartz and Terrazzo surfaces is registered with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the United States and notified with the Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR) in Europe. The technology is tested to ISO 22196 specifically, demonstrating the ability to reduce the growth of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus by up to 99.99% on the surface of the treated product.
