The Bharat Itihas Sanshodhak Mandal in Pune has been renovated, preserving its 114-year heritage while enhancing its beauty. The renovated building was inaugurated on Gudi Padwa, a significant festival in Maharashtra. This historic building, established on July 7, 1910, by historian Dr. V K Rajwade, has undergone a transformation, blending its architectural grandeur with modern amenities [2).
The renovation project was supported by the Maidesh Foundation, whose president, Arun Joshi, expressed his deep connection with the building. Joshi stated that he felt a sense of duty fulfilled after the renovation.
To ensure the heritage of the Mandal reaches the new generation, various activities are being organized. The renovated VK Rajwade Hall now showcases miniature paintings, rare artifacts, stone sculptures, Modi script manuscripts, ancient books, and weaponry collections.
The Bharat Itihas Sanshodhak Mandal is a treasure trove of historical documents, with over 1.5 million papers, 30,000 scripts, 4,000 coins, and 1,000 paintings. It’s a significant institution for historical research, providing resources and training for historians and researchers.²
