AAA felicitated 15 workers for their conservation efforts in Kaziranga National Park, Tiger Reserve, and surrounding areas. As per ANI, Varun Tanti, Vinod Gogoi, Gakul Munda, Jatin Tamuli, Luson Prakash Gogoi, Manoj Gogoi, Anju Bauri, Nipan Saikia, Papul Rabha, Swapan Nath, Kumud Tamuli, Mridusmita Gogoi, Bubul Sarma, Rupjyoti Saikia Gogoi and Sanjib Rajguru were among the conservation workers felicitated by AAA at an event held recently.
Speaking on behalf of the conservation workers, Swapan Nath urged the Architects of Assam to impress upon the authorities concerned to encourage sustainable and eco friendly constructions in Kaziranga to facilitate tourism.
“Development work in Kaziranga has to take place always keeping in view its environment impact for the sake of sustainable Tourism”, said Nath. The felicitation programme also mark the culmination of the three day AAA conclave held on the theme, integrating nature in sustainable architecture, where 150 delegates from across the nation took part.
A booklet comprising articles on the architectural history of the North eastern region was unveiled by council of Architecture president avoid Vinayak Purohit during the inauguration of the conclave. AAA President Ranjib Baruah and General Secretary Pankaj Phukan termed the AAA conclave as one of the biggest and most meaningful congregations of architects to happen in the North East so far. Making special mention of the delegation from Sikkim and Nagaland they said the ideas of traditional architecture shared by the Architects of the region will go a long way in promoting the time tested concept of building houses that are ingrained in the traditional values systems.
President of the Council of Architecture( COA), Ministry of Education Abhay Vinayak Purohit, airport man of India, who designed over 50 airports in India and abroad Charanjit Singh Shah; Utpal Sharma, winner of the prime minister award for excellence in urban planning and design; Netherlands – origin architect, known for his nature based architecture in Afghanistan Nepal and India; Anne Feenstra; and Bangalore based architect, who made a mark with her net zero sustainable models Chitra Vishwanath; among others also shared innovative ideas on sustainable architecture at the conclave.
