Nien Siao, Dean of JS Institute of Design, was felicitated by the Association of Designers of India (ADI) | NCR recently at the PSOI Club in New Delhi, on the occasion of National Guru Day. The recognition honored her exceptional contributions to India’s design industry.
The event, part of the Imagine Fest 2024, celebrated National Guru Day and acknowledged pioneers and thought leaders shaping the Indian design industry. ADI | NCR is a prestigious organization fostering a robust network of professionals, educators, students, and enthusiasts. The immersive art festival included events like panel discussions, keynote sessions, exhibitions, and workshops led by industry stalwarts.
Upon receiving the felicitation, Nien Siao expressed gratitude to her colleagues, students, and peers. “This recognition acknowledges the vital role educators play in enhancing design education,” she said. “As mentors, we must remain collaborative, open-minded, and holistic to better prepare our students.” Siao emphasized the importance of faculty training programs, stating, “Experienced professionals must undergo training to efficiently impart knowledge, ensuring every student benefits.”
With over 30 years of experience in design education and practice, Siao has held leadership positions at leading academies such as Pearl Academy and IILM University. As a design professional, she has extensive work experience in various domains, including fashion, textiles, and crafts. Additionally, Siao actively contributes to design education, serving as an advisor to universities across India.
