Hindware expanded its mission to empower young girls and uplift communities through its “Build a Toilet, Build Her Future” program. Launched in 2020 under the #HygieneThatEmpowers CSR initiative, this year’s program adopts the ‘Dare to Dream’ theme, leveraging safe and accessible sanitation to empower girls to stay in school and pursue their dreams.
In rural India, inadequate sanitation facilities significantly affect girls’ education, with 23% dropping out of school upon reaching puberty. A Sulabh International survey reveals that poor sanitation leads to up to 60 days of absenteeism annually. To address this, Hindware collaborates with the Manas Foundation and local communities to provide clean and hygienic sanitation facilities.
As part of the program, Hindware has constructed over 400 toilets across 120 schools in Delhi, Haryana, Roorkee, and Telangana according to a press release. By FY25, the company will add another 100 toilets, empowering thousands of girls to pursue their education uninterrupted. Hindware also raises awareness through social media, featuring stories of transformed lives.
Sudhanshu Pokhriyal, CEO, Bath and Tiles Business, Hindware Limited, said, “This year’s ‘Dare to Dream’ theme encourages girls to envision a brighter future. Each toilet built brings us closer to a nation where girls can focus on education and realize their dreams.”
Shashvat Somany, Head of Strategy, Somany Impresa Group and Independent Director, Hindware Limited, added, “As we enter the fifth year, our commitment remains steadfast. By ensuring girls attend school uninterrupted, we invest in India’s future. We’re grateful for our partners’ and communities’ continued support.”
