Humanscale, based in New York, has launched India’s first collection of ergonomic furniture designed for short-duration work in offices, homes, labs, or industrial settings. This initiative supports Humanscale’s mission to promote an ‘Ergonomic’ India.
The collection features the Active Pony Stool and Float Mini Sit/Stand desk, which work together to transform neglected workspaces into comfortable, productive environments. Ideal for compact spaces, these products provide ergonomic support for various activities, functioning well individually or in tandem.
The Active Pony Stool and Float Mini Sit/Stand desk will be available in India through S Cube Ergonomics Private Limited, which operates exclusive showrooms and an Ergonomics Experience Centre in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Pune.
“The new collection has been designed by Niels Diffrient, the legendary American industrial designer, also known as the father of ergonomics, whose core philosophy was that ergonomic furniture solutions should adjust to the user, not the other way around.” said Sathish Nandagopal, Founder & Director, S Cube. “Active Pony and Float Mini are thoughtfully designed to meet this need, providing flexibility, comfort, and personalized solutions that adapt seamlessly to a wide range of workspaces.”
The Active Pony Stool builds upon Humanscale’s award-winning Saddle/Pony line with the addition of even more movement. The addition of a new base allows for the user to be in constant motion— offering 360-degree rotation and 7-degree tilt. Active Pony ensures sitters are constantly moving and sitting in healthy positions, which is inherent in Humanscale’s design and core beliefs.
The triangular cushion encourages users to sit in a “saddle” posture, which lowers the thighs, opens up the hips and puts the spine into a healthy lordotic curve (S-Curve). The “saddle” posture also reduces pressure points for long-term comfort.
The Float Mini Sit/Stand desk is a compact sit-stand table that features a smaller, cantilevered work surface and a single-leg frame that occupies minimal floor space. The light design comes with optional casters and is easy to move so that users can embrace a variety of environments and seating positions.
Movement is essential to long-term health, especially throughout the workday. Research shows even three minutes of standing for every hour spent sitting reaps enormous benefits. Float Mini allows you to move from sitting to standing and back again, effortlessly.
The Float Mini makes use of a non-powered pneumatic cylinder to lift and lower the work surface, giving it a gliding motion without the need of a power source.
“We are extremely pleased to introduce this new collection in the Indian market at a time when the modern workplace is fast evolving and collaborative and informal settings have become essential hubs for productivity,” said Alastair Stubbs, Country Director India, Humanscale.
