Winnipeg-based 5468796 Architecture has secured two prestigious awards at the 2024 World Architecture Festival (WAF) in Singapore for its innovative projects, Pumphouse and Arthur. This achievement solidifies the firm’s position as a leader in global design excellence.
Pumphouse, an adaptive reuse project in Winnipeg’s Exchange District, won “Best Creative Reuse Project” for its transformation of a civic industrial building into a sustainable preservation project combining commercial, hospitality, and housing components.
Arthur, a multi-unit residence in Regina, claimed the “Urban House/Villa” award, marking the firm’s second consecutive win in this category. Arthur’s design efficiently fits two units into a single lot, providing occupants with privacy, daylight, and outdoor space.
Principal Sasa Radulovic stated, “Winning these awards is a tremendous honor. With Pumphouse and Arthur, we’re proving that sustainable, thoughtful design can transform spaces and lives. We’re proud to represent Canada on the global stage and hope this streak inspires others to see what’s possible in modern architecture.”
This dual award recognition is a rare achievement in WAF’s internationally competitive program, making 5468796 the only Canadian practice to receive an award in the Completed Projects category this year. This win extends the firm’s winning streak to three consecutive years, following previous successes with Veil House and Beacon Clinic.
