Construction commenced recently on the 400-meter-tall Mukaab skyscraper in Riyadh, designed by AtkinsRéalis. This cube-shaped supertall building will become the world’s largest upon completion, surpassing the Boeing Everett Factory in the USA. Excavations are underway, with groundworks already 86% complete.
Mukaab will anchor the 19-square-kilometer New Murabba development, featuring two million square meters of shops, cultural attractions, and tourist destinations. The building’s distinctive facade will incorporate overlapping triangular forms inspired by modern Najdi architecture. The interior will boast a giant atrium with a spiraling tower.
Part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, New Murabba will include over 100,000 homes, 980,000 square meters of retail space, 1.4 million square meters of offices, hotels, cultural venues, and educational institutions. Completion is expected by 2030, with funding provided by the Public Investment Fund.
