The Female Design Council (FDC) has announced the third edition of its prestigious grant, offering USD 20,000 in unrestricted funding to an exceptional woman of color in interior design. Supported by 1stDibs and NICOLEHOLLIS, this initiative promotes equity and inclusivity within the design industry.
Applications will be accepted from January 7 to March 25, 2025, celebrating Women’s History Month. The grant includes:
1. A 12-month FDC membership
2. One-on-one mentorship from Nicole Hollis
3. Membership in 1stDibs’ Trade 1st program
Two finalists will receive 12-month FDC memberships. Established to champion underrepresented groups, the FDC Grant is open to female-identifying designers of Black, Indigenous, Latina, and Asian American Pacific Islander backgrounds.
Past winners have achieved gallery representation, brand collaborations, commercial commissions, and press accolades. Little Wing Lee, 2022-2023 FDC Grant winner, praised the initiative: “The Female Design Council Grant was a wonderful investment in my studio, providing momentum to build and invest in future projects.”
1stDibs and NICOLEHOLLIS present the 2024-2025 edition, reflecting their commitment to diversity and inclusivity. “Empowering women in design is crucial,” said Karen Silveira, 1stDibs Creative Director. “This grant celebrates achievements and fuels creativity, driving success in the industry.”
