Rail Vikas Nigam (RVNL) has successfully built a 3D-printed Gangman Hut at Parvatipuram Railway Station in Andhra Pradesh, marking a significant milestone in Indian Railways. The structure, spanning 1,076 sq ft, was completed in 25 days using a 3D concrete printer and advanced materials like Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) and Lightweight Concrete.
The project showcases the potential of 3D printing in infrastructure construction, offering benefits like faster construction, reduced material waste, and advanced design capabilities. A virtual 3D walkthrough was developed to visualize the building before construction, and realistic lighting design was integrated to enhance functionality and ambiance.
RVNL’s CMD, Pradeep Gaur, said, “RVNL has successfully done demonstration of this modern construction technology. This initiative could pave the way for broader adoption of 3D printing in low-cost, quick-build infrastructure projects across India.”
