Known for being the key architect of the iconic Dragon Palace on Kamptee road, Anand Godse, passed away early on Saturday morning due to a massive heart attack. He was 74, and is survived by his son Gaurav, wife Mina and daughter Ashwini.

He is also remembered for building the VCA stadium and major industrial projects at MIDC Nagpur, among other things. “His thorough study and vast knowledge in literature had a profound effect on his work,” said his nephew Parag Pandharipande, who was mentored by Godse.
A special prayer was organised at the Dragon Palace in Godse’s memory. Politician Sulekha Kumbhare, who monitored the construction of the palace, referred to him as a hard-working man. “No questions were asked when he put forth the design of the palace. No one could believe that an Indian architect could construct a Japanese temple this perfectly. We even won an award for the design,” said Kumbhare.
