Italian firm wins Qatar Rail competition in Doha

One-WorksItalian architectural firm, ONE WORKS, has won the design of the Transportation Education Centre through an international competition held by Qatar Rail in Doha.

The organisation has awarded the designs to ONE WORKS to implement their vision of the new Doha Transportation Education Centre and these designs have been developed on the basis of Qatar’s important history and know-how.

The purpose of the centre is to present Doha with a symbol, a building that represents the city’s extraordinary change that is being manifested throughout the country. The architectural design will combine Qatar’s past, present, and future and will tell the story of how its positioning itself as a dynamically connected country within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and globally.

Mohamed Timbely, senior director, Qatar Rail, commented,”ONE WORKS has perfectly interpreted the spirit and the goal we set for ourselves from the competition’s outset. Their unique experience in transport infrastructure and architecture, combined with their ability to interpret their designs is a strategic element of urban development as well as, social and cultural evolution. The ONE WORKS architects developed a concept for the Transportation Education Centre that achieves a perfect synthesis of what Qatar Rail is developing for its country and its architectural and cultural legacy, making the new Transportation Education Centre a dynamic and integrated element.”
