Philips Lighting (Euronext: LIGHT), the world leader in lighting, announced that the Philips Lighting skill for Amazon Alexa will be available to Indian customers when the Amazon Echo launches later this month via invitation. Alexa is the voice service that powers the Amazon Echo and provides capabilities, or skills, that enable customers to interact with devices in a more intuitive way using voice. The Philips Lighting skill enables voice control of the Philips Hue connected lighting system, allowing customers to dim and turn their lights on and off with Alexa voice control. In addition, it is now possible to set light scenes by voice command.
“We believe that enabling people to turn their lights on and off, dim them to the desired brightness, change colours and more through simple voice commands will be a magical experience for consumers,” said Sumit Joshi, Vice Chairman and MD, Philips Lighting India. “It’s essential that smart home technology is simple, accessible and easy to use, and that’s why we’re so excited about Amazon Alexa. We believe customers in India will appreciate how easy it is to set up their Philips Hue voice control with Alexa in their homes.”
