Godrej and Boyce introduces a new business format ‘One Godrej’

Godrej & Boyce has introduced a retail concept, ‘One Godrej’- one-stop solution for all home needs. Yesterday, February 27, 2019, Nyrika Holkar, Executive Director, Godrej & Boyce, announced their innovation and business strategy to further strengthen their presence in the home solutions space by introducing ‘One Godrej’ experience through its U&Us offering. These centres will allow consumers to experience the entire gamut of home solutions from the house of G&B from a single source. The company plans to invest INR 50 Cr towards this innovation and business strategy over the next 3 years.

‘One Godrej’ is an ideal platform to establish a dialogue with today’s consumer and showcase unique offerings that are customised and integrated into an overall home interiors plan offered by a team of expert interior designers and project managers at U&Us. U&Us plans to strengthen its reach in 20 key markets in India with an expanded network of 50 centres by 2025. Of these, 7 large format One Godrej experience centres will be operational across 7 markets in FY2020. With this, U&Us expects to touch a revenue of INR1000 Cr by FY2025. Apart from the experience centres, there are plans to open 50 design studios too.

Driving commitment to provide an unparalleled level of service to partners comprising of architects and designers, Anil Mathur, COO and Business Head, Interio Division, added saying, “The One Godrej concept has emerged from the opportunity to harness the strength across all our consumer durables businesses and be consumed as one-stop home solutions brand by our consumers. With this new business format, we are expecting U&Us to achieve a total turnover of INR 1000 cr by 2025.”

U& Us intends to provide an integrated solution at one stop to enhance customer experience. At the backend, various skill development workshops are being taken up to enhance the skillsets of the craftsmen. These ensure the fulfilment of their CSR along with sustainability.

When asked about the challenges, Mathur commented that there are two major challenges that face: accuracy and training of craftsmen. The teams are working towards overcoming these challenges at the backend. The company also has plans for online and offline marketing and are working toward giving a distinguished experience to the customer through e-commerce using VR technology. However, they believe that personal interaction is necessary to bring out good personalised solutions for each client.

The brand has also, tied up with Godrej Properties in various Tier I cities to design homes and help complete a project within 30-45 days.

The furniture market in India has historically witnessed a prolific boom. The growing economy has increased people’s liquidity, which in turn has propelled the sales of branded furniture category. The furniture sector in India is estimated to be over INR 50,000 Crores. U&Us has invested over INR 10 crores in technology to enhance customer experience as part of its innovation strategy.
