A provider of electronic ink technology and e-paper, E Ink Holdings has announced a colour changing film aimed to be integrated with traditional architectural materials to create dynamically changing environments. Dubbed E Ink Prism, the new laminated electrophoretic product will be available in seven different colous including dark blue, cyan, red, green, yellow, brown and black.

Manufacturers and designers will now have the ability to integrate these colours to enhance corporate branding or add interactive functionality to architectural features such as decorative panels, glass, marker boards and laminates. E Ink Prism’s paint-like appearance, colour palette and wide-ranging compatibility with materials and shapes make it suitable for many architectural applications.

The film can be custom programmed to dynamically switch colours in nearly any pattern, shape, speed and sequence.

“E Ink Prism’s potential to change the way we experience public spaces is boundless,” said Paul Apen, Chief Strategy Officer at E Ink. There are few limitations for how and where Prism can be used, making it a perfect medium for architecture and design, and other applications, such as sales promotion. E Ink technology is known for revolutionising the user experience across the eReader, retail, transportation and digital signage markets, and Prism is poised to do the same for the architecture market.
