Cecilie Manz, a Danish ceramic artist, has collaborated with Duravit to create a bathroom range. “My collaboration with Duravit has taken me into entirely new territory in every respect. Not only was this an opportunity to work with a new material, but it is also the first time that I’ve ever focused on the bathroom in my work,” says Manz.
At ISH 2017, Duravit will present her interpretation of Nordic design for the first time. The Luv bathroom range combines Nordic purism and timeless, emotional elegance. The selection of materials and colors is testament to Manz’s refined sense for touch and nuances.
The objectively beautiful forms of Nordic design are more than familiar to the native-born Dane. In 1998, just a year after graduating from the Danish School of Design, Manz founded her own company, which has been the focus of her work ever since. She has been very successful designing lamps, furniture and accessories for the home, working with well-known manufacturers such as Bang & Olufsen subbrand B&O Play, Fritz Hansen, Fredericia Furniture, Nils Holger Moormann, Lightyears Georg Jensen Damask, Iittala and Muuto.
Her products are exhibited all over the world, and her creations can be found in the permanent collections of institutions including the Museum of Modern Art (New York) and the Design museum Denmark. She has received several major awards for her conceptual design.
