In an attempt to bolster connectivity to the area where works related to the Kolidhek multi-purpose reservoir project on Lohavati river are going on, officials have completed the construction of an approach road recently. They said that the dam works will also begin soon.
The Kolidhek multi-purpose reservoir project is an attempt to resolve the water problems faced by the local residents and promote tourism in the area.

The contract for the dam project has been given to a Kashipur-based company. We are planning to complete the project in two years,” he added.

Local MLA Puran Singh Fartyal said, “We have already allocated 8 crore INR for the project. All the affected villagers will be compensated soon.”

“The chief minister has already directed Jal Nigam officials to take the necessary steps so that the water shortage faced by around 30,000 Lohaghat residents is resolved soon,” he added.

Raghuvar Dutt, a villager, said, “The reservoir will solve the water crisis faced by locals and turn the town into a tourist destination. This will also provide more job opportunities in the area.”
