
Architizer has announced the winners of the 5th Annual Architizer A+Awards, honouring the best architecture, spaces, and products from across the globe.
This year’s winners feature several Canadian projects, including: Story Pod by Atelier Kastelic Buffey Inc., Steam Canoe by OCAD University, The Bahá’í Temple of South America by Hariri Pontarini Architects, Village by MoDA, and the Aga Khan Park by Vladimir Djurovic Landscape Architecture with Landscape Architects of Record Moriyama & Teshima Planners.
More than 5,000 entrants from 100+ countries competed in 102 categories, including 21 new awards that highlight technological advances and design innovation, such as Apps & Digital Tools and Co-Working spaces. In addition to the Jury and Popular Choice winners, six special awards for achievement will be presented at the A+Awards gala on May11, 2017 in New York City.
Firm of the Year: David Adjaye (Adjaye Associates)
Lifetime Achievement Award: Odile Decq (Odile Decq Studio)
Impact Award: Tatiana Bilbao (Tatiana Bilbao Estudio)
Advocate Award: Carlo Ratti (Carlo Ratti Associati, MIT Senseable City Lab, EU Commission)
Emerging Firm of the Year: Koray Duman (Buro Koray Duman)
Product of the Year: DJI Drone
These special honorees are recognized for their outstanding work and innovation in design, including works such as: The National Museum of African American History and Culture (Adjaye); Confluence Institute for Innovation and Creative Studies (Decq); low-income housing in Acuña, Mexico (Bilbao); The Supermarket of the Future in Milan, Italy (Ratti); New York City’s forthcoming Islamic Cultural Center (Duman); and groundbreaking CAD compatible drone technology (DJI).
