Museum of Trees, the book, a pictorial study about the trees that make Byculla zoo a green haven, will be launched at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya, Kala Ghoda, on Wednesday.
The book also sparks a debate about the civic body’s plan to convert the park into a state-of-the-art zoo by bringing in more animals. Rathod believes that the space should instead be converted into a botanical garden with a research centre and amphitheatres. Book’s title was meant to convey the suggestion to convert Byculla zoo into a green space with social and cultural amenities.
Samira Rathod and her team at Samira Rathod Design Atelier (SRDA) did the project on their own and the team will now prepare a plan for refurbishing and redesigning the zoo to make it more vibrant and accessible to the public.
