Amdavadis can see Shark, penguins and stingray in Ahmedabad soon

An aquatic gallery that will have around 10,200 creatures of 172 species will open in June 2019, at Science city in Ahmedabad. The construction of the aquatic gallery is in progress and 50% of construction work is already completed. This will be the first of its kind aquatic gallery in India that will be prepared at the cost of 257 crore INR.

Several species of sharks, penguins, fish, Coypu, octopus, coral reefs, jellyfish, stingrays and other creatures will be brought here in two months and will be quarantined for acclimatisation for four months.

Dhananjay Dwivedi, Secretary at the department of science and technology (DST), Gujarat government, said, “This is going to be a great project and the visitors will get a feel of the marine life. Besides the galleries and shark tunnel, there will 5D theatre, interactive information panels and mobile guide so that every smallest piece of information will be available to visitors on aquatic life.”

“The state-of-the-art-kind building is being prepared in a spiral shape. The design and architect are taken care of that will give this structure a uniqueness. The galleries are not installed after the construction but that also will be the part of the construction,” he added.

The major attraction in this gallery would be children will be allowed to touch and feel some of the fishes by hand and presentations will be made by experts before visitors explaining on marine life here.

The aquatic gallery is spread over 13,000 square meters and 50 lakh litres of water will be used to fill the tanks, while 2 lakh litres will be spilt every day out of the tanks. New Zealand-based company Marinescape is building the museum along with construction company Shapoorji Pallonji Group.
