18,000 convectional street lights replaced with energy efficient LEDs in Agra

Following allegations of violation of norms regarding installation of Light Emitting Diode (LED) street lights in different wards of the Agra city, the Energy Efficient Services Limited (ESSL), the firm entrusted with the task, on Monday announced the installation of more than 18,000 Light Emitting Diode (LED) street lights in one month duration. According to ESSL officials, under the Street Light National Program (SLNP), 30,509 conventional street lights in Agra will be replaced with LEDs within the current financial year.

This will help Agra Municipal Corporation (AMC) to save over 3,955 kilowatt per hour (kWh) deemed units’ demand annually.ESSL project head for Uttar Pradesh Tarun Tayal said “The project completion will help AMC save around 65% energy annually, reducing its energy bill by INR 8 Cr per year.”
