E-commerce major Flipkart has relaunched its furniture business after addressing issues like longer delivery periods, post sales installation and other pain points faced by consumers. The move comes right before Flipkart’s annual festive season sale Big Billion Days which kicks off from September 20. Flipkart has also launched a private label for the category–Perfect Home.
The e-tailer is largely sourcing material from Malaysia and China, said Adarsh Menon, head of private brands, Flipkart.
Flipkart has introduced multiple private brands over the last six months across categories like electronics and accessories, fashion, home furnishings among others.
“We have timed the relaunch with the demand is higher. Having done a soft launch of our in-house brands we got on board external brands like Lazy-Boy, Home Town, Spacewood, Kurl On, Peps across all product categories with assured quality and service promise,” said Nandita Sinha, head of furniture business at Flipkart. For the online retailer , furniture is among the new categories it is looking to push going forward along with re-entering the grocery segment this year.
“Our customer base is loyal and we are offering them the products at the best possible price adding value to the purchase,” Sinha said. Jeeves, a subsidiary of Flipkart, which is taking care of the post sale installation for the furniture business, similar to the large appliances segment.
