Krishna Kumar, New Delhi: Inaugurating the Festival of Architecture & Interior Designing (FoAiD), a conference and exhibition for architects, designers and vendors, in New Delhi today, Gitamber Anand, CMD, ATS Infrastructure and President, CREDAI said that the builder community and the architect community has been focusing largely on addressing the demand of a small minority of the country who are at the top and middle of the pyramid.
The emphasis of the government and the PM on Housing for All by 2020 is a big opportunity for everyone. Four crore low cost houses are required to be built in the country. He said that the perception that ‘margins are negligible in the bottom of the pyramid’, has to change as the government is giving budgetary incentives and more announcements are awaited in the upcoming budget as well.
If architects can bring imaginative and creative ideas and educate builders and developers, these low income dwelling units can be made more beautiful and meaningful, he added. He said that contractors, vendors, engineers, architects, designers, builders, all are an integral part of the ecosystem and have to work together as a unit to make the India story successful.
